Mr. Chatterbox

Our big guy is quite the linguist these days! In addition to the basics (shoe, doggy, mama, dada, etc), he's now saying:
  • good girl (to Lexi!)
  • daddy (instead of dada!)
  • bus (or bus-see, to be honest...)
  • choo choo, "daddy choo choo," and "bye bye choo choo"
  • carseat
  • outside
  • a ton of animal noises (snake, lion, owl, etc.)
  • tractor (tac-trr)
  • cereal
  • cracker
  • cookie
  • eyebrow (crazy! he says it and points to his, mine, yours, etc!)
  • ear, eye, nose, mouth (ee, I, nose, mou)
  • thank you (only a few times, but we're working on it!)
  • cheese
  • uh uh (instead of no)
  • uh oh
  • mmm hmmmm (on occasion when he likes something)
  • ocean (sounds suspiciously like "Oh Sh**.")
And a ton more that I can't remember right now. He is also doing the coolest new stuff with the ideas behind language. He points to a picture of a sleeping cat and says, "Meow ZZZZZZZZ" (making a snoring noise). If I cough, he'll say, "Mama" and then make coughing noises. He'll see a picture of a glass of milk, and point to his sippy cup and yell "MMMIIIIIHHH!" And he'll hear a truck go by outside, then he'll run to a book and find the picture of a truck and bring it to me.

So amazing. Really cool new developments! He's understanding more and more of what we say, too. He's following directions, and always trying to help. His tantrums have eased up significantly, and now he can be redirected almost immediately.

And my favorite thing so far: he is now starting to point and ask for what he wants! Instead of just automatically shrieking until I figure it out. He's doing this more and more lately- up to almost half the time! It's a beautiful thing, to hear your kiddo say (ok, shout), "Mama, teddy?!" instead of an ear-piercing scream followed by tears...

He's a total lovebug these days, too. So the new chatting, combined with the hugs and cuddles...it just makes for a ton of fun! We're a lucky mom and dad duo, and that's a fact!
